Meet our people : Sarah Soliman Daudin of Soliman Productions
We're a global movement that is getting behind #WomenInEventTech to share stories, meet up, inspire and connect. Once again we’re excited to be celebrating and featuring another amazing women in the event tech industry! This week we’re introducing you to Sarah Soliman Daudin, Founder of Soliman Productions.
Hello, I’m Sarah Soliman Daudin. With over a decade of experience in production, I created a production company, Soliman Productions, covering the meetings industry at large.
In 2014, I won IAEE's Rookie of the Year Award. In 2016 and 2017 I worked hand-in-hand with the PCMA team as a co-host of PCMA's Convening Leaders LIVE broadcast. Through PCMA, I earned my certification as a Digital Event Strategist in order to perfect my knowledge of live events both face-to-face and virtually.
Currently, I’m the host and content creator of MPItv and I work with MPl's publication, The Meeting Professional to produce year-round video content. I serve on the Board of Directors as the VP of Marketing & Communications for the MPI Greater Orlando Chapter and was honored with the Rising Star Award for Q2 of 2018 by the MPI Greater Orlando Chapter.
Recently, I was named a finalist for the Emerging Leader Award through the Association For Women In Events. I’m also an advocate for important issues including sexual harassment in the meetings and events space, working to educate and execute preventative measures meeting professionals can pro-actively implement into their contingency plans. My work in the #MeetingsToo movement alongside my colleague Courtney Stanley earned me recognition on the cover Meetings Today in October 2018.
My hope is to continue inspiring and educating meeting professionals in all facets of their career through various initiatives I find great passion in.
Q. What do you love about event tech?
A. Event tech can extend the life of an event and create new, innovative methods of networking and communication long after the close of an event. As a visual storyteller, I love being able to revisit an experience post event through video or be able to virtually feel like I'm part of a real-time experience. It's truly amazing how far we have come in event tech!
Q. How can women make an impact in the event tech space?
A. I believe women in tech are a force to be reckoned with! Not only do women offer a unique approach to problem-solving, but women in the event space have a niche for creating an experience and technology can further enhance the engagement of attendees across the board. Women in event tech can also impact change in gender pay gap, offer opportunities to other women looking to explore tech and essentially change the perception that the tech industry is a man's world.
Q. What are some of your personal favourite tools/brands/products/biz?
A. Google Drive, Asana, Uber (live by it when i'm on the road!), 4K video, Drones, Adobe Suites, and Zoom.
Q. Who do you most admire in event tech?
A. Definitely the entire Dahlia+ team! I love that Dahlia marches to the beat of her own drum and opens doors for other women and young people to claim their spot in the event tech world. When people think event tech, they think Dahlia+ ...that's something to admire!
Q. What's your one piece of advice to other women in event tech?
A. Avoid any negative self-talk as it creates self-doubt. Don't take yourself too seriously. Create strategic goals, set deadlines to achieve them and power through with mental strength, bad ass people and a lot of makeup concealer! :)
Q. What is your favourite quote/s?
A. "When they go low, we go high" - Michelle Obama
