Now, let's meet Tess Vismale, CMP, DES -

Hello everyone, I’m Tess and I’m passionate about smart technology for hospitality professionals. I’m always on the road educating event professionals on the latest and greatest technologies (40+ events annually), as well as practical tech solutions that can make their lives easier and more efficient. I thrive on-site managing events. Tech merged with events is my passion!

I am a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Digital Event Strategist (DES), Event Executioner, Collab Evangelist, TechEd and Speaker! I’m a Tech Whisperer with DAHLIA+ AGENCY and Chief Event Executioner for iSocialExecution, Inc.

I was named “Meetings Trendsetter 2014” & awarded the GaMPI Shining Star Award, and was featured in the Connect Meeting Intelligence Magazine’s article, entitled “How I Work: Tess Vismale on Executing Events.”

A native Chicagoan by way of Atlanta, I hold a BA from Spelman College, enjoy social media, creative visionary thinking, tennis & watching mixed martial arts (MMA).

Q. What do you love about event tech?

A. Event Tech is a way to move our industry forward. It streamlines processes, fosters engagement among multi-generations and outputs data in a digestible way for all stakeholders. It also, frees up the Planner’s time to be more creative and truly design a meeting that is synergistic for all involved.

Q. How can women make an impact in the event tech space?

A. Women can be intentionally empowering by mentoring other Women in Tech (WIT), hire them at the rate they ask for and not undercut their rate; create women only strategic events; help women join the BOD or or tech centric companies and create a safe space for WIT to lean on and grow.

Q. What are some of your personal favourite tools/brands/products/biz?

A. What'sApp, GSuite, Wavebox, Evernote, CatchBox, Slack, Trello, SocialTables, snôball, DAHLIA+ Agency.

Q. Who do you most admire in event tech?

A. Dahlia El Gazzar has always helped WIT find their true self. She empowers and finds or provides viable opportunities for them. The best part about her is that she expects nothing in return.

Q. What's your one piece of advice to other women in event tech?

A. Stand firm on your value, authentically foster growth in other woman and tell other women what you really need so they can assist you.

Q. What is your favourite quote/s?

A. “I will not have my life narrowed down. I will not bow down to somebody else’s whim or to someone else’s ignorance.”
– Bell Hooks

“I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”
― Audre Lorde, Sister Outsider
